The Fourth Report

Welcome back, we are now into November and I just turned 20 yesterday! Matter of fact I got to celebrate it at the Chiefs Sunday night game versus the Titans so I'll be adding that experience to my report today, also Mizzou is flirting with bowl chances but still not guaranteed. In greek life I have come onto a new role, in regular life my finances are currently lacking so I'm hoping to stretch out this last couple hundred for a couple more weeks. Lastly, broadcasting has continued to grow on me and I am now being able to use it to make me some money.

Riley Christmas about 3 or 4 years ago with my siblings.

The end of the trade deadline was on November 1st but it wasn't as exciting as many Chiefs fans were expecting, although they were not completely dormant. Most of us were hoping for a defensive weapon like Brian Burns or Bradley Chubb because it is easy to blame defense in a loss when you have the best quarterback in the game. However, what the Chiefs showed me on Sunday was that our defense isn't a burden anymore. Even though they gave up 2 touchdowns early in the contest, they showed up when it mattered making the essential electric plays in crunch time. Now Mizzou's defense is everything I have been hoping for in the last 10 years, one tweet noted that if our offense was just average in points per game, we would be 8-1. It's simple, the offense is not producing enough to compete in the SEC. The SEC is the best football conference in football and in order to compete you gotta score points. Theres 2 spots lacking and that is the O-line and QB, now these go hand in hand but the most important position is the quarterback so I think we should start there. Brady Cook has proved for 3 years now that he is not a consistent and reliable option at Q but he's got experience. What does experience mean if you have no stats to back that experience has actually made one better? My prediction is that Mizzou will not be bowling this season and this can be expected for years to come as we just extended Drinkwitz 2 more years.

Last night our chapter held elections for our Executive board. These 8 guys are in charge of most of the operations within the chapter and also oversee it all. I was nominated for President and VP of Communications, in all honesty I had no interest in being the President right now but I was interested in Communications because it aligns with my major. Unfortunately, I was not voted into any position but trust me I did not lose sleep over this, it honestly is a good thing because it takes off some of the workload. Another recent election was the Inter Fraternity Council Executive board election, in this one I put myself up for finance but was actually granted the promotions spot. This one worked better for me because I just wanted a spot in the board because it looks good on a resume so I chose finance because my friend is the current finance chair. Promotions fits my major and interests better so I am excited for this new opportunity to be apart of something meaningful.

Money is scarce, income is scarce but at least I am done paying rent until January! At the signing of our lease we paid the last months rent in advance so now I have no big expenses on my plate for a while. Speaking of expenses, my sister got the last $1,000 for my car so it's officialy mine now. It feels good to be debt free, now I just have to keep enough money for the essentials like food and gas. I received about $150 for my birthday, which should hold me over until I can work the bread route over Thanksgiving break.

When I scheduled myself for broadcast games early in the semester I took most weekend off just because I knew I would want to be doing things with my friends, but this leads to my weekends not being open late in the semester. Football season has come to a close and I got to direst the entire broadcast for the last game. This was fun for me I enjoyed calling the shots and just getting to be apart of the Mules double overtime win! Thus means basketball season is picking up for UCM which I am excited for, I love basketball and we're even given the opportunity to make money for the games during break. Unfortunately, I did not sign up to take the secondary class to this because I don't have prerequisites for it. On the upside, I'll have a lot more free time in the second semester, let's just hope it is better than last spring semester.
