The Fifth Report

This past weekend I got the opportunity to finally go to a Mizzou football game, then I finally got the chance to go back home and make a couple dollars on top of what I am getting paid for my broadcasting class. As far as greek life, we finished nominations and also held our annual thanksgiving.

About a month ago, Mizzou found themselves in a tough spot because they only had 4 wins and had a tough remaining schedule in order to become bowl eligible. After dropping both games to Tennessee and Kentucky, they would have to win out against New Mexico State (easy) and Arkansas (rivalry game). My friends family holds season tickets to Mizzou and offered myself and a couple buddies the chance to go to the game against New Mexico State. Although we had expected a blowout, it was much worse than anticipated and we even left before the end of the game because it was so cold. With that win they just need to beat Arkansas in their next match so we can go bowling. For the Kansas City Chiefs, they will have no struggle clinching their division and playoff spot especially with a win against the only competitors in the AFC West, the Chargers. When you have a QB on your team that has never lost a game in November or December in his whole career, you can usually relax a little bit when the game is on the line because Patrick Mahomes is THE MAN. On pace for another MVP season at QB and with the best TE in the game, the Chiefs are expected to make another deep playoff run .

We have now appointed our new Executive board for our chapter and there's a lot of new faces. I think that adding these new guys into the mix can help us change the culture and get more people involved. Historically speaking, most people do not get engaged with the chapter because they fall out after their first year. However, now that we are actively engaging new guys into our everyday agendas and ideas, they feel a part of the process. Although I am not apart of the executive board, I have been nominated for the "SWAG" chair where I am responsible for designing shirts for rush weeks and any events we may do. Now thanksgiving, this was terribly planned considering that we did not know what we were cooking until 3 days before the dinner. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that everyone had put in time and effort to make sure their food was done on time and was at least edible.

Money was scarce that last week before Thanksgiving break but luckily my parents were nice enough to let me keep some of the money from my scholarship. Most of the check was used to pay off my remaining balance then I was granted the other $400. This saved me because I found myself having to spend a lot of money last week and was worried that I would be pushing a negative balance soon. Luckily I stayed in good financial standing until I was able to work during break and then even got my check the day of Thanksgiving.
