The Second Report

Happy Monday and welcome back after an extensive break, my apologies but I just simply forgot to post these last couple weeks. Now before I get into todays report I just wanted to let you guys know that I will mainly be talking about some older happenings rather than this past week itself.

This is a picture of me and a couple of my hometown buddies after our high school graduation.

My hopes for Missouri's football program faded faster than normal this year especially when they played arguably the worst football game I've seen in a while against Auburn's 4th string QB. Going into half we were tied up, which isn't good but also not bad for us, then it appeared that both teams never came back after half. It took until the end of the 4ht quarter for someone to finally score again and it wasn't Mizzou, a number of miscues kept the Tigers from being able to put the game away. On top of this monstrosity of a game, the Chiefs decided to come out and disappoint me as well. A seemingly easy game against the 1 win Colts, right? Nope, wrong. I didn't get to sit and watch the game through but it was quite obvious that Mizzou wasn't the only team shooting themselves in the foot that weekend.

Fall is a busy time for those in Greek Life and that's mainly due to Homecoming. Preparation starts weeks in advance with the construction of the float and the beginning of cheer. The day before homecoming all of the Fraternities and Sororities compete in a cheer competition where they partner together and try to have the best looking/sounding cheer. As someone who has no interest or passion for this type of stuff, this easily becomes the most dreaded part of Homecoming. On top of Homecoming, fall is the heart of intramural which is my favorite part in all honesty. Realistically, we are only good at football but it's still fun to go out and just have fun with my friends.

There's a tradeoff between having money and having fun. There has been plenty of work available for me between umpiring and still being able to help on the bread route every now and then, which has kept my checking account fairly stable. Each time I go off to work for a day or weekend I end up staying somewhere else so I don't get to spend much time with my roommates on the weekend but they also realize how important money is. As far as spending goes, most of it has been on food which is pretty typical but I am noticing less waste of money my end. I try to cook for myself as much as possible and avoid spending too much money while shopping because it's hard for me to just stop shopping entirely so I limit myself. It will be interesting to see how long I stretch out my bank account before having to pick up a real job, if that means just door-dashing then I can be content with that.

The broadcasting side is really beginning to grow on me, I could potentially see myself behind the camera rather than in front if that's what I decide to do. One position that I recently got to experience for the first time was the replay spot. This particular event was for volleyball, my job was to find color shots to add into the broadcast to make the viewing experience more attention-grabbing. Anytime there was coaches, players, or even fans interacting and expressing themselves I would capture a quick clip, then slow it down and save it. Once we are about to go into a commercial break, I would then play through a couple of the clips to sort of emotionally recap the highs and lows of the game so far. This position is fun because there is no immediate pressure of capturing and taking certain shots so you get to relax and enjoy a little bit more of the event itself.
